Ashley and Jordan

When I connected with Ashley and Jordan in June of last year, they shared with me about their love story. At the time, they'd been together for four years, having met through their parents and step parents working together. You could tell just from chatting with them, they have a cozy, deep kind of love. They speak so kindly to each other. They're not loud or boisterous, but they are not afraid to laugh and have fun. They told me they both prefer natural looking photos, ones with minimal posing. They said they both were "awkward"...we would disprove this later..so really hoped to have photos where they could look natural and fun and not feel awkward. Challenge accepted.

When we met for our engagement session in October, I quickly found that these two were not awkward at all! The love they have for each other made it so easy... with a little direction on where to stand (because nobody just naturally knows what to do with their hands while in front of a camera, myself included), they were chatting and giggling and rolling with the punches throughout our session. And low and behold...some of the sweetest portraits ever! Not awkward, natural, lively, the works. It's amazing what true love and the willingness to be brave and giggle through a photo shoot can do.

As the wedding drew closer, plans evolved from a larger more traditional ceremony to an afternoon of close family. Come wedding day, there was an intimate gathering of family. We watched from the deck of the bridal suite as people trickled in, mingling above the lawn keeping an eye on the rain clouds hovering above us. When everyone was ready and seated, Ashley made her way down the stairs, through the drive, and down the aisle to Jordan who, due to some day-of-adjustments to the pre-ceremony plan, had not yet seen his beautiful bride.

They were married on May 4th, 2024 at Mini Acres Farm in Raleigh, NC under a beautiful magnolia tree. The ceremony was filled with meaningful advice, prayer, wisdom, and giggles. As the ceremony concluded and we captured our photos, family gathered and headed out for a big group meal. Just after we all left the grounds, the rain picked up again, winking down at us that it held off just for them. A short and sweet wedding day for this deeply in love couple on a lovely rainy spring day in North Carolina.
